Dreame in a Nutshell

Dreame Technology was founded in 2017 in Suzhou, China by Yu Hao. It started with Xiaomi's backing and grew rapidly — in 2021 it raised $563 million in Series C funding. Today its products include robot vacuums, cordless vacuums, hair dryers, and robotic lawn mowers.

150K RPM Motor

In 2020, Dreame developed a 150,000 RPM digital motor — one of the fastest in the world — powering the incredible suction of its products. The company is also a sponsor of Borussia Dortmund since 2021 and recently unveiled a 1,800 HP concept hypercar (Nebula Next 01) at CES 2026 along with its Star Motor electric vehicle brand.

DreameBot X40 Ultra: The 2025-2026 Flagship

The DreameBot X40 Ultra is the successor to the excellent X30 Ultra and represents the top of Dreame's range for 2025-2026. It's a hybrid vacuum-mop combo with top-tier features:

  • Automatic mop pad removal: Can remove mop pads on its own when it detects carpet, keeping it dry
  • Flex arm: Extendable arm for edge and corner cleaning
  • Auto-emptying: Cleans both water and dust at the dock simultaneously
  • 3.2-liter dust bag: Lasts up to 75 days
  • AI recognition: Identifies objects, furniture, and floor types
  • Great battery life: Cleans ~800 sq ft in 1 hour with 66% battery remaining

The charging dock includes two water tanks (clean and dirty), a spot for Dreame's proprietary cleaning solution, and a reusable dust bag. The dock “talks” — it verbally notifies you about cleaning start/end and water emptying.

Warning: Noise!

The auto-emptying is very loud — according to Wired, it sounds “like an airplane preparing for takeoff.” Don't run it while someone is sleeping nearby!

European Price: Approximately €900-1,100 depending on the retailer.

DreameBot X30 Ultra: The Best Seller

The DreameBot X30 Ultra was unveiled at CES 2024 and received a 7/10 rating from Wired and 4/5 from PCMag. It was the first model to popularize the automatic mop pad removal feature for the mainstream audience.

What Did Wired Say?

"It's a pretty great hybrid robot vacuum and mop. I love being able to leave the damp mop pads off my carpet. But it's a steep price tag and the flex arm didn't work as well as advertised."
— Nena Farrell, Wired

On the positive side, it features excellent navigation around complex furniture legs, great battery life, and solid performance with pet hair and snacks. On the downside, the flex arm didn't perform as advertised, the mapping got confused by mirrors and glass doors, and the auto-emptying is exceptionally noisy.

European Price: Approximately €700-850 — it has dropped significantly from its initial price (~€1,200).

DreameBot L20 Ultra: Dreame's Best Value

The DreameBot L20 Ultra is Dreame's most popular model in Europe for good reason. It offers most features of the more expensive models at a more accessible price:

  • LiDAR + AI navigation: Accurate mapping, obstacle avoidance
  • Vacuum + Mop: Hybrid model with automatic mop lifting on carpets
  • Self-cleaning dock: Automatic mop cleaning, hot air drying
  • Powerful suction: 7,000Pa — top-tier for its category
  • DreameHome app: Full control via app — 2D/3D maps, scheduling, zones

Price: Approximately €500-650. This is our recommendation for those who want Dreame without breaking the bank.

Dreame vs Roborock vs Ecovacs: Who Wins?

In the 2026 robot vacuum market, three Chinese companies dominate: Roborock, Dreame, and Ecovacs. Eufy (by Anker) is also gaining ground in the budget category, while iRobot (Roomba) filed for bankruptcy in December 2025.

Where Dreame Excels

  • Innovation: Dreame was first to introduce automatic mop pad removal on carpets — a feature competitors are still copying
  • Price: Generally cheaper than Roborock in the same category
  • Suction power: The 150,000 RPM motor delivers outstanding suction

Where It Falls Behind

  • Navigation: Roborock (especially the Saros line) has an edge in next-gen navigation
  • App: DreameHome isn't as polished as Roborock's app according to reviews
  • Availability: More limited distribution in some European markets

The DreameHome App: Pros & Cons

The DreameHome app is the control center for Dreame robot vacuums. It offers:

  • 2D and 3D maps: Editable, with room labels, zones, and dividers
  • Scheduling: Daily programs, per-room, with different settings
  • AI furniture recognition: Attempts to add furniture to the map (not always accurate)
  • Smart home: Compatible with Alexa and Google Home

Among the downsides, the 3D map is quite comical — according to Wired, many objects appeared as “toilets” (including the charging dock itself!). Mirrors and glass doors also confuse the mapping. That said, once you get used to the map editing tools, you can customize everything to your needs — from room labels to floor type and no-go zones.

Which Dreame Model Should You Choose?

Budget €400-650

The DreameBot L20 Ultra is the best choice. Excellent suction, vacuum + mop, full self-cleaning dock. Ideal for homes of 600-1,300 sq ft.

Budget €700-900

The DreameBot X30 Ultra is worth it if you need automatic mop pad removal and longer battery life for larger homes. Its price has dropped significantly since the X40's release.

Budget €900+

The DreameBot X40 Ultra is for those who want the best. Improved AI, better flex arm, stronger suction. If your budget allows it, you'll be satisfied.

Dreame or Roborock?

If you prefer the best price and don't mind a smaller app ecosystem, go with Dreame. If you prefer the best navigation and app, go with Roborock. Both are excellent choices for 2026.
